Although Fireball XL5 and Stingray appeared on television as individual shows with no intention that they shared the same universe - for the purposes of this story, we assume that they do. It's a 'what if?' scenario where we see what happens when characters from the two different shows share the same world and interact.
The story is set in early 2066 directly after the events shown in the episodes from both t.v. shows - which are assumed to have occured between 2062 and 2065.
Those familiar with the 1960's TV21 comic may recognize some of the names and places mentioned in that publication. However, we do not, for this story, assume that any other Anderson shows are 'in the same universe'. This is strictly a Fireball XL5 / Stingray crossover.
It was felt that Fireball XL5 does not fit well with later Anderson shows since Fireball XL5 series technology is so advanced, eg interstellar travel is not only possible - but a common occurence - unlike in later shows. Stingray does not concern itself with spacetravel so it's a better fit.
